“View of Glass Lake” was painted circa 1850-1855 by Joseph Hidley, a Postenkill, New York native who often used surrounding towns and villages as subjects for his paintings.

His paintings are in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the New York State historical Association and the Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Folk Art Center, Williamsburg, Virginia as well as the Hart Cluett Museum in Historic Rensselaer County, N.Y.
