A Note from the Executive Director

History cannot give us a program for the future, but it can give us a fuller understanding of ourselves, and of our common humanity, so that we can better face the future. -Robert Penn Warren

I am extraordinarily fortunate to join the Hart-Cluett during this auspicious season. While the past year was marked by challenge and anxiety, it also was a time of reflection and growth. The Hart Cluett Museum's mission to "advocate for the future by bringing the region's past to life, recognizing every face and every story" is timeless in its significance but it is especially important as we begin to envision a post-pandemic world.

As spring arrives and I begin my tenure as Executive Director, I will spend time listening to those who care deeply about the museum along with community members who have not yet fully engaged with the museum. Their stories, concerns and hopes for the future will help inform my priorities over the next year. With the arrival of a new season, we have a wonderful opportunity to share stories that will help us form an inclusive and thoughtful society that fully benefits from the lessons of the past. I look forward to collaborating with you.
