From the Director

I had the pleasure of taking a tour around the northern portions of Rensselaer County with our intrepid County Historian, Kathy Sheehan. It was delightful to see the diversity of architectural styles, historic sites, and landscapes. We explored charming village squares, sweeping country landscapes with astonishing vistas, the powerful Grafton Peace Pagoda, the beauty of Oakwood Cemetery and so much more. It was a whirlwind tour and I can’t wait to take a day trip with my family to explore more.

Seeing all of this made me feel deeply grateful for the opportunity to focus on preserving and promoting the history of these special places. Many of you are familiar with these places but I encourage you to go out and explore them once again because they should not be taken for granted. Hopefully you will join us for the upcoming picnic at Prospect Park. That’s another special place that I can’t wait to explore. I also look forward to meeting some of our members and supporters at the picnic.

See you soon!
