Echoes from Lock One
Echoes from Lock One, a Youth Media Sanctuary documentary short, has been accepted into three film festivals (so far!).
The Sanctuary for Independent Media features local youth through their program, Youth Media Sanctuary - a community media arts program based in North Troy, NY. The program teaches multimedia skills to young people (ages 15-25), to develop urgently needed independent local voices in our economically devastated neighborhood.
Echoes from Lock One is a documentary short, produced by the Youth Media Sanctuary. North Troy teens spent five weeks with Media Sanctuary creating a multimedia documentary on water justice and the legacy of the Erie Canal in one of NY’s most economically challenged and environmentally devastated neighborhoods.
HCM Registrar and Educator, Kathy Sheehan, assisted those working on this project by providing accessibility to HCM resources to help better understand the impact the Hudson has held on the area over time.
The documentary short Echoes from Lock One has been accepted into three film festivals; premiering at the all-virtual Environmental Film Festival in the Nation’s Capital from March 18-28, 2021, streaming online through the North Dakota Environmental Rights Film Festival from April 11-25, 2021 and at the Kansas City Film Festival International from April 12-18, 2021.
“Echoes from Lock One” is an investigation of the past, present and future of the Hudson River in North Troy.
