Art and Design Between the Wars, 1920 -1940

An exhibition by Douglas G. Bucher

What we now call the Interwar Period was a time defined by significant and rapid change, reaching all aspects of society. This transformation is particularly evident in the world of art and design.

Currently on display in the Library Lobby (second floor), this exhibit seeks to illustrate the amazing creative shift in the world of design from the nineteenth century’s trend of reinterpreting the design concepts of previous eras.

Come see the varied and multiple facets of the Art Deco Movement, in both art and design, and be inspired by the same sense of optimism, progress, and vibrancy that defined the Interwar Period.

This exhibit was curated by Douglas G. Bucher, HCM Trustee. All items seen on display belong to Douglas G. Bucher and are not a part of HCM’s permanent collection.
