National Voter Registration Day
Every year millions of Americans find themselves unable to vote because they miss a registration deadline, don’t update their registration, or aren’t sure how to register.
National Voter Registration Day wants to make sure everyone has the opportunity to vote. On Tuesday September 22, 2020 volunteers and organizations from all over the country will “hit the streets” in a single day of coordinated field, technology and media efforts. National Voter Registration Day seeks to create broad awareness of voter registration opportunities to reach tens of thousands of voters who may not register otherwise.
So what does National Voter Registration Day involve?
A coordinated voter registration effort by organizations and volunteers across the country: in communities, workplaces, libraries, college campuses, and more.
Social media outreach and in-platform activations by digital partners to help voters register to vote online and find registration drives nearby.
The saturation of national and local media to raise awareness of voter registration opportunities and encourage civic participation.
Hundreds of thousands of voters registering to vote online and offline in a single day.
And this Friday, September 18th, 2020, BET, along with the National Urban League and other key civil rights organizations, will be holding the first-ever National Black Voter Day to aid Black citizens against suppression tactics and ensure that their vote counts in the various elections taking place in November. The announcement is part of BET’s #ReclaimYourVote campaign and comes exactly 100 days out from Election Day on November 3, 2020.
