Documenting Troy Street Art

The Hart Cluett Museum’s Stacy Pomeroy Draper and Belinda Colon of the Arts Center of the Capital Region joined correspondent Andrea Cunliffe of the Hudson Mohawk Magazine on WOOC in discussing the ongoing documentation efforts here in Troy, NY.

In preparation for the June 7th Rally for Black Lives that would see 11,000+ people take to the streets of the ‘Collar City’, many of the businesses in the downtown area decided to board up their windows with plywood coverings that would end up serving as canvases for local artists in support of the upcoming rally and Black Lives Matter movement.

Both Stacy Pomeroy Draper and Belinda Colon call attention to the multiplicity of layers involved in documenting history as we live through it and explain in further detail the importance of collecting the current day and working with local artists within the community.
