Curatorial Curiosities!
Hart Cluett Museum Curator/Archivist, Stacy Pomeroy Draper, describes the history of the Howard-Hart family coach which is on display in the carriage house of the museum in downtown Troy.
Built in New York City in the early 1840s and brought to Troy in 1845 where it was used by Betsey Hart and her family, the coach, which features a fashionable interior with expensive fabrics, ivory and silver-plated door handles and the Howard family crest on the door panels, is one of only four of its kind that remain in view in public collections.
