This week, May 11-17, 2020, celebrates MuseumWeek - the worldwide festival for cultural institutions on social media. Since 2014 #MuseumWeek has grown to include over 60,000 participants from 100+ countries, becoming the first virtual, worldwide cultural event of its kind.
In discussing their founding objectives, MuseumWeek has stated that “[they] adopted ‘togetherness’ as the encompassing theme for MuseumWeek 2020,” believing that “now more than ever, it is that much more relevant. “ Each day of the week has an assigned theme and hashtag to incorporate the reality of our current global situation and to help the cultural community remain globally connected in the face of this worldwide pandemic.
