Guided Tours of the Hart-Cluett House
Old Money & New Money:
The Gilded Age in the Hart-Cluett House
Like the HBO series The Gilded Age, Troy had its version of old money and new money families. This tour will look at the lives of Betsey and Richard Hart who represented the older New York money and George and Amanda Cluett, the nouveau riche who made their fortunes in the collar industry after the Civil War. Furniture, fine and decorative arts relating to the two families will be highlighted in this tour of the house.
The Hart-Cluett House Tours are available on select Saturdays from May through November.
Tours last approximately 60 to 90 minutes and leave promptly at 2 pm from the Hart Cluett Museum Admissions desk.
