Join us for a picnic at the historic Prospect Park
“…dedicated to a particular purpose, namely, the refreshment of the bodies and souls of great numbers of people…”
Garnet Baltimore, Troy City Engineer
Designer of Prospect Park, 1903
Green, open space for recreation in a city - this may not seem like such a novel idea to 21st century Americans. And yet, 114 years ago, Prospect Park was just that.
It quickly became a much-needed respite from the industrial urban environment of the city; open to all citizens, available in all seasons, and was the site of memorable family, sporting and community events that continue today.
The Hart Cluett Museum invites you
to join us for a picnic at Prospect Park!
Bring your own meal and join us for a fun evening at the Prospect Park Pavilion.
Historian Kathy Sheehan will lead a historic tour through the park that was known as Warren Hill, see the famous Wesley Bintz swimming pool and the famous overlook. Kathy will have historic images to share while we stroll through the park! Tour will begin at 6:00PM.
Drinks and dessert will be provided! Need ideas for what food to bring? Support your local Rensselaer County restaurants!
Please RSVP by Thursday Aug. 5th to Samantha Mahoski
