The Architecture of Downtown Troy

Federal, Greek Revival, Gothic and Italianate architecture are a few of the architectural styles represented in the residential and commercial buildings in Troy. This noon time tour explores the historic district’s streets and alleys of Troy as we depict the story of the development of the city and the impact the built environment had in the growth of Troy and the Capital Region.

Before registering, please note the following:

  • Please purchase your ticket in advance to secure your spot on the tour.

  • This walking tour begins and ends at the Hart Cluett Museum, 57 Second St., Troy, NY.

  • Admission to the museum is included in the cost of the walking tours. Tickets are $20 per person/$15 HCM Members. Children age 17 and under free.

  • Tours take place rain or shine and run from 60 to 90 minutes long. The tour experience includes walking several blocks on city streets with uneven sidewalks. Walking shoes and weather-appropriate attire are advised.

  • The Hart Cluett Museum provides all walking tour participants with headsets, allowing each visitor to listen to the tour guide’s commentary while also ensuring everyone’s safety. Please note that while you may use or bring your own earpieces/earbuds, single use earpieces will also be provided at the time of the tour.


Requests for a ticketing change or a full refund must be sent to kprue@hartcluett.org at least 48 hours prior to the tour start time. Full refunds will be issued if the museum cancels a tour. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
