Our guest speakers for Thursday, April 4th are Gary Nelson and Joe Fama.
Gary is an RPI graduate (1970) and now retired from a forty year career in transportation systems engineering. In the 1970’s he was active in battling highway projects in the Troy area and then became involved in national highway battles.
Joe is the author of The Hoosick Street Bridge & The North-South Arterial, Twenty Six Years of Street Fighting in Troy, New York. As former director of the Troy Architectural Program, (TAP) for forty years, Joe was at the forefront of working with the people who lived in the neighborhoods that were impacted by the building of the bridge.
They will discuss the project, the misconceptions relating to the North-South Arterial, and how this massive urban renewal endeavor continues to affect the residents of the City of Troy and Rensselaer County.
This event is FREE for RCHS members, and $10.00 for ‘Not-Yet-Members!’
