We cross them almost every day, sometimes more than once, but do we know the impact that bridging the Hudson had on Troy and Rensselaer County?  This exhibit examines the many bridges that cross the Hudson River within the borders of Rensselaer County – from the very first bridge over the Hudson at Lansingburgh and Waterford (1804) to some of the newest bridges over this historic river.

This aerial view of the Hudson Valley looking north dates from about 1930 and shows four of the bridges that cross the river within Troy’s city limits. Do you know which ones are not there yet? Top to bottom – Waterford/Troy (Lansingburgh; 112th Street (Troy/Cohoes); Green Island/Troy; and Congress Street bridge. All of the bridges shown have either been replaced with newer bridges or had a lot of work done on them in recent years.
