May 9th: Historian Talk with Kathy Sheehan
On May 10, 1862, a fire burned through Troy when a locomotive’s sparks ingnited the wooden Green Island Bridge. The disaster took the lives of more than 15 people and destroyed 500 buildings with a monetary loss of more than 2 million dollars.
This talk, the night before the 162nd anniversary of the fire, will take you through the events of this tragedy and how it has impacted the development of Troy today.
Visit the Hart Cluett Museum and Research Library to take advantage of extended hours every Thursday! The Museum and Library will be open 12-8pm for visitors to enjoy our galleries and community space.
